Andy Murray relishing Olympic challenge

August 18, 2013

British number one Andy Murray has claimed that he is determined to make his mark on this summer’s Olympic Games in London.

The Scotsman has been selected for Team Great Britain in the men’s singles tournament but the 25-year-old is hopeful that he can do better than 2008’s first-round knock-out.

“It’s great, I was part of the last Olympics in Beijing and I really enjoyed it,” Murray told Sky Sports News. “I didn’t know what to expect – as tennis players you don’t know what it would be like to be part of a big team event.

“I’m very glad that I managed to get in the team this time and hopefully do a better performance. [The Olympics] is up there with the grand slams because it comes around every four years, which it makes it that much more important for tennis players. Obviously with it being in London it’s going to be huge.”

Meanwhile, the Scotsman has been seeded fourth for Wimbledon, which starts next week.
