Dungo takes indefinite leave

PHILIPPINE Volleyball Federation (PVF) President Generoso Dungo has formally filed an indefinite leave to primarily concentrate on his business and other personal interests.

PVF Secretary-General Rustico Camangian said that vice president Karl Geoffrey Chan will automatically assume the presidency while Dungo is on-leave based on its constitution and by-laws.

“He (Dungo) has no choice. The new interim board of administration will now run the PVF,” Camangian told The Manila Times.

A Board Resolution No. 05-2013 signed by nine of the 14 board members supports Dungo’s decision, according to Camangian.

For his part, Dungo said that he has a lot of things to do in business in order to recover. “I need to focus on my business first. I know this is a hard decision but I need to do it.”

Dungo has been criticized by the entire volleyball community after failing to form a team in the recently-concluded Southeast Asian Zonal women’s volleyball held in Vietnam.
