FILIPINO pug Denver “The Excitement” Cuello will challenge World Boxing Council (WBC) minimum weight champion Xiong Zhao Zhong of China on Friday at the World Trade Centre in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Cuello, 26, who holds a fight record of 33-4-6 win-loss-draw card with 21 knockouts, said he will try to go for the kill in the early rounds but will always remain cautious since Xiong (20-4-1 card with 11 knockouts) is also a dangerous opponent.

“I’m waiting for this moment and I think nobody can stop me now in achieving my dream which is to win a world title,” said Cuello, a native of Binangonan Rizal via phone interview. “I trained for the last eight weeks and I feel so comfortable now.”

Cuello’s manager Aljoe Jaro said that there is nothing to worry about regarding Cuello’s weight since there is enough time left for him to trim down. Cuello is two pounds over the 105 lbs. limit.

Cuello secured the right to face Zhong after winning the WBC Silver belt in a title eliminator last year wherein he knocked out Mexico’s Ganigan Lopez in the second round.

Zhong for his part said he wouldn’t give Cuello a chance to seize the belt from him. Zhong is now the only current Chinese world boxing champion.
