Garcia, Bersamina score in Asian Youth

INTERNATIONAL Master Jan Emmanuel Garcia and FIDE Master (FM) Paulo Bersamina claimed back-to-back wins in the Asian Youth Chess Championship 2013 in Sari, Iran on Saturday.

Garcia beat Fang Yuxiang of China and Ismailov Mukhit of Kazakhstan in the Open 18-under open while Bersamina outlasted Kalikov Temirlan of Kazakhstan and Mosadeghpoor Masoud of Iran in the Open 16-under.

Jerlyn Mae San Diego, for her part, crushed Altantuya Boldbaatar of Mongolia and Mohanty Aditi of India in the girls’ 8 – under.

Meanwhile, Alekhine Nouri of Taguig City, the world’s youngest FM at seven, lost to Mahitosh Dey of India but bounced back in the second round by demolishing Zamon Bozorali of Tajikistan in the Open 8-under class.

In other results, Daryl Unix Samantila of Tonsuya, Malabon was yielded to Veerappan Aravindh Chithambaram of India then split the point with Aibek Isakzhanov of Kyrgyzstan in the Open 14-under; and Istraelito Rilloraza of Las Pinas City halved the point with Erdemdalai Yondonjamts of Mongolia then lost to Saurabh Anand in the Open 12-under.
