Former NBA star guard Stephon Marbury arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Monday at 2:20 p.m. aboard Malaysia Airlines.

Marbury, who now plays for the Beijing Ducks in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), expressed his excitement on his Manila visit, “I want to say hello to everyone,” he said.

Marbury is in the country to promote his own line of shoes and apparel named Starbury.

The American player, who was named CBA All-Star Most Valuable Player in 2010, also has six charitable organizations in China helping children with cancer.

“I hope to impart not just my knowledge in basketball, but also reach out to the community and help out in any way I can. I’ve seen a lot of talented players in the Asian level and I won’t be surprised if more Asian players, including Filipinos, will one day make it to the NBA,” he told reporters.

On his Starbury line, Marbury said: “Growing up in the States, my mom couldn’t afford to buy me shoes because they were too expensive. Now, people can have good quality shoes for a lesser price.”
