Marina Erakovic ‘really disappointed’ with Olympic exit

New Zealand’s Marina Erakovic has revealed that she is “really disappointed” to have lost her Olympic opener to Canadian Aleksandra Wozniak on Monday.

The Kiwi number one slumped to a 6-2 6-1 defeat at Wimbledon in a little over one hour.

“It’s really disappointing. There’s not much more I can say than that,” the 24-year-old told reporters.

“Yes, she is a player I’ve beaten in the past on grass, so I definitely know going into any match that it’s up in the air and anything can happen.

“It’s more to do with the fact that this only happens every four years and it will never happen at Wimbledon again so that’s why I’m really disappointed.”

Wozniack’s reward for beating Erakovic is a second-round clash with American Venus Williams.
