Neville brothers to coach England under-21s

August 17, 2013

Phil Neville has joined brother Gary in taking up a coaching role with England after being named in the backroom staff of the country’s under-21 side for this summer’s European Championship.

The younger Neville has previously worked with the under 21s on a one-off basis, ahead of England’s 4-0 qualifying win over Belgium last year.

The Football Association said on Tuesday that Neville, who won 59 caps as a player, will now be on board for the entire June 5-18 tournament in Israel “as part of his ongoing coach education.”

Phil Neville says “I have been to three major tournaments as a player and to now sample it on the other side will be a great chance for me.”

Gary Neville is Roy Hodgson’s assistant in the senior set-up.
